Vegan Leather

I apologize for all the UNIF clothing posts.  I obviously have a problem.  I am such a loyal customer, while it does take a toll on my pocket money, I love the quality and utterly unique designs.  My very first UNIF purchase was the Studded Shoulder Splice Dress.  I regretfully did not take any pictures of this dress, but I intend to in the future. I did not even know of the designer when I bought the dress from Patricia Field's website.  This is how I discovered UNIF.  The studded shoulders of the dress are made of vegan leather, which I did not know at the time, either.  Upon later purchases I grew accustomed to the designers and I love the animal cruelty free concept. This is not like any Pleather I have ever worn.  It is impossible to distinguish from real leather, not to mention durable.  The UNIF Prima Cut Out Dress (bellow) is also constructed of vegan materials and has a bouncy tulle skirt. Farther down in my pictures are the UNIF Hellraisers.  These loafers are deceivingly comfortable considering they are covered in sharp spikes.  Speaking from experience, do not leave these laying around. You will step on them, and it will hurt. I have worn these shoes religiously for well over a year and I have yet to see any significant damage.  The inside is lined, and also cushy.  Hellraisers come in all colors and are still sold here at UNIF Shoes. I think the vegan approach is awesome, and I hope other designers follow suit.  What is your opinion on leather, animal cruelty, and this alternative?

Vintage Finds

There is a cute little shop in my home town called Reclaimed.  They sell new and used clothing, and the ladies who work there are lovely.  During side walk sales I rushed straight for the used section. They may not have been on sale, but I still only payed $16 for this Calvin Klein denim jacket.  It has been worn in and frayed in places.  I love the character of distressed denim.  I even added a few of my own touches.  The watermelon button if from a cosmetics company called Lime Crime, and the melted skull heart is from Drop Dead.  Both were freebies with previous purchases.  My favorite sun glasses from Cotton On, and little black and gold, quilted leather purse pair nicely with any vintage look.  I have been thinking about sewing a large patch on the back.  We will see how motivated I feel later on.

Skate Exclusive

Jeremy and Abbey

I had the amazingly inspiring opportunity to meet the owners of a traveling skate shop named Caravan. They have been on the road for weeks in a refurbished air force truck.  They have hit an unreal amount of skate parks, and shops.  They skate every day, sell merch out of their truck, and live on the move.  They have traveled over 1300 miles, and we could not have been more impressed.  Jeremy Hopwood and his wife Abbey Rock are no strangers to skate culture.  Jeremy has been donating, and volunteering to the world of skate long before the conception of the mobile skate shop.  Also, Abbey was raised around her father's skate shop.  She writes for a skate magazine called True Skateboard Magazine. You can follow their adventures HERE on the website.
Marcus and I were casually meeting a friend, Marissa, at Starbucks.  When we parked in front of the coffee shop Marcus was the first to notice the obnoxiously awesome diesel truck, with "Skate Shop" spray painted on the side.  After we had ordered we found Marissa in a corner next to the cutest couple I have ever seen.  Marcus, being a skater, stuck conversation with them.  They were trying to get to Lincoln, NE and needed to sell some inventory to get there.  They were not prepared for the Nebraska heat, wind, and vacancy.  Marcus messaged all of his skate buddies and arranged for them all to meet at the skate park.  The turn out was great, and all of their revenue will fund the trip to Lincoln, all the skate shops in between, and their future travels.
They have truly put everything into their passion for boarding, and they have a very positive message for people of all ages.  Ab and Jeremy are kind and generous, the the type of people you can't help but admire.  It was no coincidence that our seemingly pointless visit to Starbucks turned into the greatest chance encounter. Hopefully we will meet again some day.  We wish well to our new friends and know their shop will take off one day.  I am glad we have made new friends and will be able to watch their success flourish. It is so inspiring to see people who not only have put their dreams first, but also have worked equally as hard to get there.
Drive on!

UNIF: Drug Rug

I would love to introduce you to my new baby.  I stumbled upon the UNIF Dweller Hoodie on Ebay.  I usually do not bid; I prefer to just "buy now," but I made an acceptation.  The Dweller Hoodie typically runs over one hundred dollars, give or take depending on the store.  I was in luck, this paticular item was worn once and the seller was in need of quick cash.  On Ebay, I was prepared for an expensive war and a bid battle to the death. I waited for days for the bidding to close.  There were zero bidders, but I still waited until the last ten seconds to bid, just to be safe.  Of course, I did all that waiting for nothing, because I was the only person on Ebay who was remotely interested, figures.  I victoriously won my hoodie for less than half the original price.  I swear I wore it for an entire week after delivery.  It is warm, airy, and conveniently matchs everything I own. My boyfriend thinks it looks a lot like a drug rug. What do you think?

Gotta love that scrunchy!

“He stared up at the stars: and it seemed to him then that they were dancers, stately and graceful, performing a dance almost infinite in its complexity. He imagined he could see the very faces of the stars; pale, they were, and smiling gently, as if they had spent so much time above the world, watching the scrambling and the joy and the pain of the people below them, that they could not help being amused every time another little human believed itself the center of its world, as each of us does.”

Siren Song

Hello Loves,
I would like us all to share a moment of silence for the Alluring Aquatic MAC collection that is now sold out. I apologize that it has taken me this long to post a review, but I would much rather give my honest and experienced opinion than feed you bogus information.  When I was first introduced to the limited time collection I instantly fell for the Siren Song lipstick.  I had to watch and read several Alluring Aquatic reviews before I found one that included Siren Song.  This is not a popular shade. That may be why I find it so enchanting.  This is the most naked nude lipstick you will ever find.  I bought this with the intention that I could wear it on minimal makeup days, or when I dress down.  I have a very fair complexion, even in sunny seasons.  I knew this shade would only accentuate pale my skin tone.  I like to own my ghastly color, but others may not, and for those I would not recommend this product.

This lipstick is light and shimmery, shear, and creamy.  I could almost compare it to a lip gloss with the exception that it will last longer, and it does not have a sticky texture.  Although, it will not last as long as other opaque MAC lipsticks, because of the nature of the pigment.  It cost $17.50, and I regret nothing.  I was so confident in this purchase that I did not even swatch it before checking out. I happened upon a MAC Cosmetics store in Denver, knowing the collection was completely sold out online I jumped on the opportunity.  The packaging is metallic teal, with raised bumps that give the tube a water droplet texture. Aside from that, the tube is the same traditional bullet shape. I am not one to fall for the illusion of advertisement, but this is honestly such a dreamy container.  MAC really one-uped every other brand on the visual performance end.  Overall, I would say that I will be using Siren Song until it is a nub, and then some. Unlike most makeup, this will not get lost in the bottom of a drawer somewhere, because it is an everyday wear product.  The only problem I have with Siren Song is that it doens't last long enough; and by long enough I mean forever.
If you are seriously interested in any of the Alluring Aquatic cosmetics check out the MAC website HERE for information. Go to a store near you, or check Ebay, because Ebay is like my Wal-Mart.

I feel like I forgot something.
Sorry Xx,

Mourning Moments

At this point in my life, everything is going to change.  My stress level is high and I never have time for myself. In these moments I have find myself viewing the world in a different light. I have begun to enjoy little things, more so out of necessity. With the remorse I feel for the time that is flying past me, and how busy I have become, it is hard to appreciate the big picture. In my new life perspective I have learned to appreciate the unwanted aspects of my life. In fact I find them quite beautiful.  In some demented way I love the fact that my car air conditioner does not know any setting other than hot, and hotter. I would rather feel the wind in my fingers anyway. I want to thank the unexpected alarms on my phone for keeping me from wasting a single waking moment. And, even if the rain destroys the gravel road leading to my home, I will always welcome a thunderstorm lullaby.  The dirt in between my toes is merely a reminder of a nights adventures. How could I possibly wash them away without a tinge of guilt? I feel greedy at times, and hope that the realization of this beauty belonged to me only. I am almost positive all humans have their own set of simple pleasures. I just wish people talked about them more. Maybe it would make us happier, but it's just a thought.

Burn Your Bra

Hello Babes, since this is my first outfit post I went a little over board with the pictures. Sorry, maybe.  Anyway, as it getting hotter outside I am growing increasingly annoyed by bras.  I'm sure I am not the only one who hates underwire sweat.  This the season to rid yourselves of any confinement!  Seriously, we are all humans and I am willing to bet you have nothing surprising under your shirt.  But, comfort is everything so if bras are your thing, girl you go.

To Dye For

Astra Dress

Hello, everyone! I am low key excited about this post, because Unif is one of my all time favorite designers.  Recently Unif has released a really unique line of knit wear. I have never seen tie dye knit wear that did not look incredibly tacky until today.  This is my long over do UNIF TIE DYE POST!!!  Now, Unif has been selling tie dye clothing for a long time now; pieces here and there.  But, there is now an overwhelming amount to choose from. It was hard just selecting which clothing to post.  I'll admit that I am not a fan of tie dye, but I bought my boyfriend a tie dye kit for his birthday (shhhhhh!).  And, we all know how popular indie fashion is becoming, so I figured this was appropriate.  Also, I have been looking into DIY tie dye tips, because of a terrible washing machine incident that involved a vintage crop top and my now spotted Victoria's Secret Pink sweater.  When I figure out how to rearrange my priorities, and dye my sweater, I will update my blog with pictures (and advice from the numerous mistakes I will make).
Thanks for reading, and have a great Independence Eve Americans! Please don't blow off your fingers...
